Pokuase Medical Center

Pokuase Medical Center

Medical Center for Pokuase

Architecture often calls for a balancing act of considering both today’s needs and the demands of tomorrow, this medical center project required thinking ahead in more ways than one and it exemplifies the healthcare industry’s turn toward hospitality. A place where both patients and their family will have the best quality service and experience.
The project is at the east end of Pokuase, a suburb of Accra, the capital city of Ghana.
Located off the Accra – Kumasi motorway and surrounded by rolling hills, the landscape gives the site a unique advantage.
The layout of the architecture is skewed L-shape; oriented towards the hills beyond.

The combination of pigmented concrete, metal panels, wooden textures and surrounding greenery work together on a phenomenological level . The building create a tactile experience and triggers sensations; there’s an interplay between the freshness of the site context and the flow of the geometry. It’s a joyful play in nature.

The architecture creates both unique exterior and interior spaces offering a multiple waves of spatial experience. The continuous overhangs are used to shed the building from the tropical sun and defines the sleek flow in the geometry.

This medical center will focus on women’s and children’s , specialty surgery and spa treatment geared towards modern medicine with best-in-class patient experience.
